1- How long have you been blogging? Blog created in 2008 but started like 5 months ago to blog frequently. For this blog about 8 months now. {But before I used to blog about my sisters (triplets) }
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? No specific time… it is when I feel I want to post something. I don’t blog everyday, so I dedicate few minutes to check visitors and comments.
3- Has it been worth it so far? Yes… expressing feelings through writing gave me the relief. Yes.
4- How many page views does your blog get daily? Between 10 and 20 Depending on when I blog. (sometimes it’s 0 )
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently? One! One
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? As I said before no specific time. (same as answer for question 2)
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? Well no actually because the reader maybe will be bored of the daily posts but the most important is to write something shocking maybe or interesting so that you grab the attention of readers to your blog. It’s more about the quality of the posts, some might have something interesting to share every day, others every week or so.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? Not really. No. Just write from you heart!
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? Well till now no mistakes J I started this blog to share my thoughts and opinions, but primarily to write short stories. I wrote one so far (http://dodosays.wordpress.com/category/the-phone-number/)

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

Ahh am a web designer and I don’t have time to redesign my blog… but there is a lot of designs which needs renovation or even new designs from scratch. Maybe because some bloggers are not designers but they need advice concerning the visuals and the structure they chose! I hate blogs that have too much colors, links and categories.
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? Good promotional tool! Good promotional tool. Love Twitter!
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? Not necessarily… I use it just to share my thoughts, imagination and feelings. Yes, it’s good idea for sharing new information.
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? I guess consistency is the clue! Blog about something you like; don’t blog to get more visitors or comments.
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? Feelings! Simplicity
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? Actually plenty of blogs are interesting and I just cant pick one! But I would like to write someday in international blogs! :P http://mayazankoul.com/ I would love to write a short story, and illustrations done by her.

1- How long have you been blogging? I used to blog 1 year ago I stopped for a while and I re started blogging last month  For good? Less than a year
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? I dedicate around half to one hour for every blog I do  You mean per week? ;-) I am a very fast writer. I am guided by impulse. So it takes a little time to write and update.
3- Has it been worth it so far? Well actually yes I never guessed that it will be this worth  More than worth it. Making people angry is always as worth it as making others smile!
4- How many page views does your blog get daily? Well it depends usually gets 100 viewers or more if I have a new photo blog. It varies between 50 and 200, depending on how “controversial” my entry is.
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently? I have done 5 photo blogs and currently working on the 6th Just one.
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? Well since I don’t write them I shoot them depends J Same as question 2 :-)
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? No you can do a blog per 2 weeks and still be successful the important thing is what are you giving to the readers and how you are giving them   No. Blogging is not about quantity. If you write well and tackle interesting subjects, people will wait, and follow your posts.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? To Post once a week at least since it’s a photo blog  There must be one. I just haven’t found it yet!
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? I still didn’t make one :D Not blogging.

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

They don’t keep the simplicity of the blog maybe , in a way you can’t focus on the main part of the blog  Over-doing it. Design is a tool to enhance an idea, a brand or a concept. When it defeats that purpose, it becomes a liability.
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? TOTTALLY  Both. It depends on how you use it. Technology is what “you” do with it, not what it does to you.
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? Yes , lately I do  If they are “professional” enough, they should know better ;-)
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? Well I would say that they should keep it simple and same time Creative and Interesting  Be you. But be your audience too. If you don’t care about your audience, why then are you blogging?
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? My photography  Knowledge
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? Well there is a long list for that J so I can’t think of a only 1 blog but Shanty’s blog is for sure included  Mine.

1- How long have you been blogging? I started blogging since 2007 but it was irregular back then to slowly become a daily activity. I became a regular blogger as of April 10th 2010
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? When it comes to my blog it actually depends, but around 1hr or 2. Reading and commenting on other blogs takes a bit more time though.  I find myself looking for the next thing to write about every time I surf the net, watch television or catch up on my reading – but a typical post takes about an hour to complete
3- Has it been worth it so far? Well worth it! I’ve met some of the most amazing people around due to this. Absolutely! The conversations that you can have with people who comment on your posts are quite interesting – plus you get to know people who have similar interests :)
4- How many page views does your blog get daily? Page views depends on the day. When I have a new post up page views increase easily, I’ve recently crossed the 15,000 archived views since I started counting. There were a couple of days with no views at all – and my busiest day so far had 111 views, but the average is around 17 views per day over the past six months
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently? Only 1, I actually have another page for my music show podcast (no writing there, just music)  Only one: “Note Connection 3,0” where I talk about religion, advertising and branding (http://noteconnection.wordpress.com)
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? I don’t dedicate hours to write. I actually write when I’m inspired no matter the time or place. I once woke up in the middle of the night to put ideas down. I keep my writings aside till I feel the need to publish. Anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours – depending on the day and the mood!
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? Out of experience, it creates a great following, buzz and traffic when done well. Daily posts are not mandatory but are essential to create some flow when starting out.   If you want to make a living out of blogging, sure – but if it is a personal fulfillment experience such as my own, then not necessarily… Besides, I consider my blog to be successful if I manage to reach out to one person and make them think about what I had to say
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? I usually aim for a two posts/week frequency.  When it comes to my blog, it would probably be three times a week – but it has been difficult keeping up the pace with my recent new job…
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? I don’t believe in mistakes on that level. You learn from the decisions you’ve made by the results you get. I learned how viral marketing works, and I’m working on it since then. Not getting into blogging earlier in my life :)

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

Too much clutter, applications, irrelevant ads. The simpler the blog the better. Although some plug-ins are a must these days, keeping it straight to the point and consistent in content and design will create a good following.   Unfriendly reader interface – I find it difficult to read some blogs that have busy and cluttered pages, despite having very interesting content, which is unfortunate
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? One massive promotional tool, but it can also be a distraction when not used correctly. Setting priorities here is key. Definitely a good promotional tool if used diligently – my blog was introduced to more people because of Twitter!
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? I don’t really believe in those generalizations. I think if the person has something of some value to share and likes dedicating some time to do so, then I believe he/she should have a blog, whoever this person might be and whatever “status” he/she might have. We all have some kind of story.  If the blog would enhance the professional experience and act as a resource – sure, but it isn’t mandatory… You need to have passion and commitment to write a blog
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? Be devoted, passionate and consistent about what you’re doing and what you’re sharing. Write about what you love, stay true to yourself and promote yourself on social media websites – you’ll meet great people along the way!
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? Passion  I don’t think I deserve the “success” label for my blogging experience, but I guess writing about interesting topics with my distinct writing style helped me have a following :)
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? I can’t really limit myself to only one. There are so many great blogs out there that I really like and follow regularly. There is something in the works right now that I’ll be sharing soon.  Seth Godin’s blog and the Brandgym blog – but I would also love to guest post on some of my favorite Lebanese blogs including “Seif and His Beiruti Adventures”, “Mich Café” and “This is Beirut”

http://onthego.survival-first.com
1- How long have you been blogging? I started blogging three months ago, in mid-July. For a little more than two years now.
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? I’m thinking of the next post all the time – looking for ideas, gathering information, preparing pictures or taking them, doing research… The actual writing could be one or two hours a day, but it’s a non-stop process.

A post for Survival First takes around two to three hours, but I only update about once a week.

For On The Go, I dedicate about half an hour every day
3- Has it been worth it so far? Definitely. It’s so much fun and so stimulating to write about what you want when you want. It makes me look and listen to everything around me in a different way. And the reception to Mich Café has been so overwhelming that I find myself more and more speechless and thankful. Definitely. I got to know a lot of interesting people through blogging, and I’ve developed my writing instincts tremendously.

4- How many page views does your blog get daily?

When there’s a new post, the page views go up, now reaching the 400 mark. Then it goes down gradually, until the next post…  It depends on what I post on that day. The last guest post by Sareen from Ink On The Side got about 200 hits in the first two hours, which was a bit of a record for Survival First. The Sex In Public post on On The Go also got tremendous attention from twitter from the moment it was posted. It also sometimes happens that some posts get almost ignored and get relatively few hits…
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently? Just the one, Mich Café. At the moment, two: Survival First, and (Survival) On The Go.
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? ---- I’m a very impulsive writer, I hardly ever plan my posts (hence the erratic schedule), and so this is a function of how “inspired” I feel. It can go from half an hour to three hours, but hardly ever longer.
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? No, I don’t think you need to post daily unless you are micro-blogging or doing it fulltime. No, but it helps. There are lots of blogs that I follow that post at longer intervals, but posting daily definitely keeps a certain momentum going, and that’s one of the reasons why I started the On The Go blog.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? I don’t really know. I’m still feeling my way. But to build readership, I think twice a week isn’t bad. For the format of Survival First, it would’ve been ideal to have three posts a week (my posts tend to be somewhat long), I just don’t have the time or energy for that.
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? Quite a few, I’m sure… but that’s for the readers to tell me. I would say not actively promoting my blog through social media from the beginning, particularly in the Lebanese blogger circles.

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

I find black backgrounds impossible to read. Also long paragraphs. I’d have to say a tie between “Too much clutter” and “Not enough identity”. Bloggers sometimes think that by emulating a successful design or throwing a lot of widgets on the blog they can keep people interested. Clutter just makes me run away from a blog.
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? I don’t think a blogger like me can make it without Twitter. It’s the ideal platform to introduce your blog, promote the posts, get feedback and increase readership. You have to keep a good balance. Using it strictly as a promotional tool makes you sound like a TV commercial: people just phase you out after a while. You have to connect with your audience, especially when you’re starting out. Besides it’s a great way to have both interesting conversations and mindless fun.
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? No, I don’t. Not necessarily. Although an active presence in social media is becoming a must, and it can be a very powerful tool if used properly.
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? Ohhhh! I need all the advice I can get, being a novice myself!!! But, as with everything in life, I’d say: “Go for it!” Take it somewhat seriously in the sense that a blog requires some amount of effort and maintenance before it draws sustainable traffic, but also take it lightly: if it’s not fun for you, it won’t be fun for your readers.
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? I think it’s too early to talk of success but my posts, so far, have been in one word, heartfelt.

Passion.

I write about the things that make me tick, and I hope my passion seeps through my writing.

Oh and success is still way far ahead :)
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? Well… I’m quite happy in my café, but any collaboration with a blog like this one or any Lebanese or regional blog would be great. And I wouldn’t turn down The Huffington Post,  just for the exposure and to get a zillion page views! I would love to be behind the idea of an XKCD or “Cyanide and Happiness” comic. Unfortunately, I can’t draw to save my own life…

1- How long have you been blogging?

Started on the first day of 2009

My first blog post was on 2009/08/09, I left my blog for a while and recently started blogging again… so maybe a year or so.
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog?

Since I’m not the “daily” blogger or a news source, but more of a “moody” blogger, I post when I feel like it, or when I get an idea with a really annoying voice whispering to get out.

So there might be several days where I forget that I do have a blog, and the day I post, I give it 2 to 3 hours.

I dedicate 1-2 hours a day to my blog.
3- Has it been worth it so far?

Like everything else, it has its ups and downs, but in general it feels good to take that idea shape it into something to display, get recognition, and make room for another one …

Definitely! The blogging experience has been worth it. It has been rewarding personally, and with the comments and feedback I receive, I guess others appreciate it too. It is rewarding when other tell you they “learnt something from you”.  My blog focuses on Lebanon, specifically Beirut, and I feel that through my blog I am making a difference… that’s worth it!
4- How many page views does your blog get daily?

It depends and varies a lot between an average day between 2 posts or the day a post get published… but if I must give numbers I would say around 40 in between posts, and it can go to several hundreds the day I publish a new post.

It depends. If I do a very “different post”, I will get around 400 page visits. But usually it’s between 200-300 page views.
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently?

1-     Schizolax-10mg is where I portray the personal side of me with all its contradiction from deep seriousness to provoking sarcasm (thus the title )

2-     Macateeb blog : which is currently invite only and on hold . it was an attempt to attack openly subjects that I avoid in schizolax such as Lebanese politics, and known figures…

3-     A professional design blog joining several creators as authors, that will be launched soon, and will be the façade for the business I’m currently founding >> [ abstract ]

N.B: when [ abstract] blog is launched, I’ll be forced to give away my mask #confession

Just one... “Seif And His Beiruti Adventures”.
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? Review – 2 1-2 hours a day. I guess Twitter is a second blog now that I think about it (I spend an immensely large amount of time there).
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful?

Define successful? And it depends on the genre of posts.

I don’t deny that being omni-present helps self-exposure,

And daily posts for news blogs, or directories are a must.

Then again, you see posts that offer “resources” to receive a constant wave of page views disregarding post frequencies

When it is a design blog or even “moody” blog like in Schizolax you can always stretch the interval of time between posts without getting self-kidnapped for a long time.

No. However, for new blogs, I think a post a day is good to build a good amount of “solid” followers. But quality is more important than quantity.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency?

Again, it depends on the genre of blogs

I try and post something each day… but with school it has been a bit hard lately. I space my posts now, usually post once every two days… my page views stay consistent..
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did?

To link between Schizolax and macateeb, thinking that I will get the same quality of readers ,which led to a big misunderstanding … which led to putting macateeb blog on hold

P.S: you might be amazed how tribal some comments or mails get. And for the record when I say tribal I’m not referring to hate mails, those I tolerate, but cheering uncivilized mails, where everyone thinks he got your point, and that you belong to its party and describes “graphically” what “we” will do to counterparts …

The biggest blogging mistake would definitely have to be in my early posts. I was unsure of my blogging topic, and what I would be talking about. I was very “all over the place”. That’s the biggest mistake for any blogger, not knowing what kind of content they want to provide to their readers.

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

When the “design” is so messed up and far from being clean that you have to look for the posts between meaningless graphics and useless widget Each blogger has his / her own design preferences, I guess you can say. As long as there is an archive, category list, and a search button I am ok.
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool?

In a way , It is both

But if you want other tweeps to bother and get distracted by your promotional tweets and follow your links, you will have to accept the distraction resulting for following tweets.
Hands-down it is an amazing promotional tool. I suggest it to any new blogger.
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? Not necessarily a blog , but definitely an online identity and a promotional tool , and use them wisely Yes I do. It’s a good way to relax, a good way to get word out, express opinions, and really advertise yourself.
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be?

Do not try to copy other bloggers, eventually you will be tired of portraying others and the whole purpose of putting yourself out there would suffocate.

Create your own identity , it will be appreciated by readers, and above all you would be true to yourself

Know what you want to write about. It’s super important. Without knowing what type of blog you want or what your “focus” will be on, you end up hurting your blog and it’s popularity because the readers won’t know what to expect, or what they are “coming back” for.
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word?

Success ??? ( you’ll make the cute blogger with the nice picture in the next column mock me , seriously ;)

I can’t talk about success… but I can talk about satisfaction. I am satisfied of what I posted till this day and still growing and since I blog for fun , or in more precise words, I think out loud, I have all the time in the world to grow …

I don’t know about success…I still am fairly new, and other bloggers are far more ahead / advanced than I am. But success in everything, especially writing, comes with “dedication”.
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick?

I never gave this a thought before , so no blog in particular,

But now that you have mentioned it, I think that a kind of collaboration between Lebanese bloggers , exchanging guest posts or even co-writing them could provide all of us with a rich shared experience … so let’s organize “co-blog” week once a year … what do u think ?? <<< all rights reserved :P

Thank you

1- How long have you been blogging? For about 5 months now.

I just started writing my own articles about a month ago.

I used to copy articles from other websites three years ago.
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? Since my posts are actually the cartoons themselves, I dedicate about 5 hours on each cartoon.  All depends on the idea that I am working on. But usually I’m always thinking of an idea for a post.
3- Has it been worth it so far? It’s definitely worth it. The reaction I’ve been getting from everyone has been overwhelming.   Yes I like it a lot.
4- How many page views does your blog get daily? Since I only post the cartoons about twice per week, my answer would be around 500 to 600 views per post.  All depends on the post created, and the way I market it using SEO
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently?

One blog,http://inkontheside.com

I’m new in this , currently I write for mine , however I used to write in forums a lot.
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? About an hour each day.
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? I think the content should speak for itself and not the number of posts.  No, it all depends on the content. But I do like to get to time where I have the ability to write daily.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? Ideally I would love to post 3 times per week but it’s hard finding enough time to do them! No, when I have something significant to write. I get eager to write it asap.
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? Changing the theme of my blog and forgetting to add the subscribe widgets among other things.  When I first started my old blog I used to copy from other websites.

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

Adding too many widgets on the right side of the blog. It draws your eye away from the content.  The lack of social networking buttons, mainly a twitter or Facebook button
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? I think it’s a little of both. It would be great to have enough discipline not to get distracted by it. Twitter is my biggest promotional tool. But can be a distraction when I have a big issue to finish at work.
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? Not necessarily. It depends on your profession and what you would like to showcase on your site. Then again, your blog could be something totally unrelated to your profession! You could be a software developer but your blog could be about photography, or cartoons in my case   Yes, this keeps a track of all achievements professional get to.
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? Making sure that the design of the blog does not compromise the content.  Find your niche and start blogging if you can’t afford your own website, there are plenty of free blogging spaces.
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? It’s too soon to know! But if you know what the secret is, PLEASE TELL ME! Friends
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? I’m still new to the world of blogging but I am seeing a lot of great Lebanese bloggers out there. HummusNation for one. Mind Soup is also a great blog as well.  http://lifehacker.com/

1- How long have you been blogging? About two years now Since March 2006
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? As long as it takes to upload my post, usually about 15 minutes at most No specific time, depends on the subject
3- Has it been worth it so far? I hope so, I haven’t gotten much feedback so I can’t really tell, but it was my first introduction to the online world! Blogging is excellent
4- How many page views does your blog get daily? I have no clue, I like to believe at least one but perhaps I am too optimistic… Average 100 unique clicks daily
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently? I have a couple, but only one I update regularly. Only for www.Krikor.info
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? Not more than half an hour. I don’t dedicate time, I just blog when I have something to say
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? I used to post every other day, but realized that in my field it is the quality, not quantity that counts. So I now post less but more developed work.  It is about quality, not quantity
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? It depends what you blog about and who is reading it. It is up to the blogger and his interests
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? Not regularly editing my blog. When I had a theme with lots of widgets, now I am into minimalist themes

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

What annoys me personally is too many ads, and too much scrolling. The design chaos where you barely can see the post itself with all those banners and ads
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? Honestly I wouldn’t know, I like to keep some mystery alive. It is a distraction if misused, but excellent tool when used properly
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? I believe it depends on your circumstances, your audience and your field. That is for sure
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? I myself am still a novice blogger, but the advice I can offer is to make work for yourself and don’t focus too much about how many people are going to see it and who is going to comment. Keep it simple
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? When I am successful I guess that word will make sense. I don’t have a secret of success (that is more than 1 word)

A political blog by Elias Muhanna, I just love his point of view and it always makes me laugh.

1- How long have you been blogging? its been a good 10 years. The blog is fairly new. We started June 1, 2010
2- How many hours per day do you dedicate to the blog? it depends on what i am writing about.  An hour. Since the blog is new, we keep testing new themes, widgets, plugins, etc.
3- Has it been worth it so far? Yeah, its been amuzing sometimes and rewarding. Absolutely. We have received nothing but positive feedback. Plus, it drives traffic to our main site.
4- How many page views does your blog get daily?

it depends which blog.

http://ghassandeeb.com is fairly new, doing around 130 views per day. it hit more before i become a bit lazy lately :).
It depends. We get the most hits when a new recipe is added.
5- How many blogs do you have or write for currently?

currently two.

- http://ghassandeeb.com (foodie)

- http://pfff.us (whatever comes to my mind)

- http://orchiddiaries.com (my orchid's diaries)
Besides Mom’s Kitchen, I recently started Arabianism http://arabianism.blogspot.com/It’s 4 days old J
6- How many hours do you dedicate to them every day? some extended coffee breaks 30 minutes – give or take.
7- Do you think one needs to post daily to be successful? not sure. but if so, i never experienced it. Not necessarily. Interesting posts make a successful blog.
8- Is there an ideal posting frequency? I guess whenever you have something worthy to say or tell. I believe posting for the sake of posting is a big mistake. Until you have something interesting to post, don’t post anything.
9- What is the biggest blogging mistake you did? it was with my first blog. http://erobot.org it was a hit and had a good success but went obsolete after i drop interest in it. Not mistakes but I have received advice from friends on how to improve the blog and how to optimize it.

10- What is the biggest mistake you see in blog designs?

i dont look for errors but usually i like clean, fresh and minimal taste. I’m not a big fan of dark backgrounds and a cluttered home page.
11- Twitter is a distraction or a good promotional tool? twitter been great so far.  Good promotional tool. Drives traffic.
12- Do you think that any professional should have a blog? If most big corporates find it useful to share ideas between its employees means that blogs are useful. Depends. For Mom’s Kitchen, we have our main website which is more corporate but we did want to create a social space for informal updates, recipes and behind-the-scene photos and posts and that’s why the blog was essential.
13- If you could give an advice for a novice blogger, what would it be? no idea really, just be and express yourself. I am a novice myself but the advice I can give is don’t take too long to add a new post. Especially if the blog is new.
14- What is the secret of your success, expressed in one word? You. Dedication
15- If you could write a post on any blog in the world, which one would you pick? i dont think i would like to. Mashable
